Mobile Poker Sites
We’ve always found the subject of mobile poker sites intriguing. Internet poker is wildly popular and mobile phones are becoming increasingly advanced. It’s only a matter of time before the two intersect and make mobile poker for real money a reality. So far, we have only found one instance of mobile poker being offered.
Full Tilt Poker recently released a mobile version of its Rush Poker game. If you’re not familiar with Rush Poker, this is a type of poker in which you are instantly moved to a new table every time you fold a hand.
This sounds crazy at first, but it works really well because it keeps you in the action all the time. Instead of waiting for everyone else to act and make up their minds, you can just fold your hand and move to the next hand instantly. The waiting time between hands has been almost completely eliminated with Rush Poker.
Their Rush Poker mobile client works in the same basic manner. You can log in to your account on your phone and join any real money Rush Poker game you want. You can only play at a single table at a time, but the fast pace of Rush Poker keeps the action moving.
More Mobile Poker Sites
It will still be a while before we find any other mobile poker sites. The technology is there, but mobile phones have a small screen that makes for a bad environment to play real money poker. If we do find new mobile poker sites in the near future, we can imagine that it would be difficult (if not impossible) to multi-table at these sites.
Another issue with mobile poker sites is spotty internet service for mobile phones. Most phone networks have internet services that are slow compared to computer internet providers. When it comes to real money poker, a solid internet connection is a must-have. You do not want to play poker on a phone that disconnects randomly from the internet or experiences major slowdowns.
The good news is that mobile internet service is improving all the time. Mobile poker sites are also getting leaner and improving things on their own end. It probably will not be much longer before mobile internet is as fast as any internet that you could get on a home computer.
Future of Mobile Poker Sites
We have no doubt that the future of mobile poker sites is bright. There is just too much demand for internet poker and feature-rich phones for it not to happen. We have already seen one mobile poker site do it right, so we can expect to see more in the future.
The biggest issue for mobile poker sites will be dealing with the small screens of mobile phones. People would not like to carry computer-sized phones all day, so small screens will probably be a reality for a long time. Mobile poker sites of the future will have to find innovative ways to deal with the limited viewing area that is characteristic of mobile phones.
